Overview
These bugs are found in tropical and subtropical areas of the world and are often brightly coloured. A few species are mimics of ants and mutillids (velvet ants).
Utilising a diet of seeds or sap, Largidae are commonly found on vegetation or on the ground. Most Australian species resemble Pyrrhocoridae.
Distribution
Only four species are recorded from Australia.
Delacampius hirtus, Delacampius lateralis
and
Physopelta australis
are found in the north portion of the Australian mainland while the 2 subspecies of
Physopelta gutta
are found in NSW and Victoria.
